Charity Trustee Training

Recordings from 2022

Accounting Considerations, VAT & Legal

In our first Trustee Training Session of 2022, Suzanne Kerr took a look at Trustee and Directors’ Reports, audit and independent reviews and Alan Davis covered some top VAT tips for charities.

We were also joined by Sarah Winter, Associate Solicitor at Blackadders, who discussed Governance and Trustee duties.

Talent Retention &
Employment Law Update

In our second session, our HR Director, Fiona Doctor discussed Talent Retention. There has been a lot of coverage about the Great Resignation and that resignation rates are the highest among mid-career employees. Fiona covers some of the proactive steps you can take to retain your staff in the new working world we are living in.

We were also joined by Jack Boyle, Employment Lawyer at Blackadders, who looked at employment contracts, flexible working and common employment law pitfalls.

Risk Management

How confident are you that your organisation’s risk assurance arrangements are robust, and provide the right information, at the right time, to mitigate or exploit risks?

In this session, David Archibald and Emma Tilley looked at a best practice approach to risk management and practical solutions to ensure charities understand the risk factors that may impact on the achievement of their strategic goals.

Fraud

In our final session of 2022, Christine Rolland covered all things ‘Fraud’ from the evolution of fraud, to types and volumes of fraud occurring in Scotland, the fraud triangle and fraud risk factors, a discussion around different fraud investigations case studies as well as fraud prevention advice.
