Update regarding Gorgie City Farm

Updated 13 January 2020

Shona Campbell of MHA Henderson Loggie, the liquidator of Gorgie City Farm, has confirmed she has received bids from two organisations with proposals for the future of site. The bidders are mental health charity Love Learning and Mr Grant Bell, owner of East Links Family Park. A consortium involving the homeless charity Cyrenians which had previously expressed an interest has pulled out of the process. MHA Henderson Loggie will now assess the bids before making recommendations to site landlord City of Edinburgh Council. The Council has provided funding to allow the animals to be cared for until February. A decision on the future of the site will be announced before the end of January.

Updated 11 November 2019

We are currently exploring options with organisations that are interested in taking on the site and continuing to run it as a farm. The farm animals will remain on site as this process is carried out.

Thanks to everyone who has offered to rehome animals. If this is required we will be in contact with you.

Updates will be posted to this website.

Original post

Following Shona Campbell’s appointment as Provisional Liquidator of Gorgie City Farm on Friday 1 November 2019, MHA Henderson Loggie has received many enquiries from people offering to re-home animals and questions about the Liquidator’s intention regarding the animals.

Thank you to everyone who has contacted us with an offer to re-home animals, we are collating and sorting through the offers and we will be in touch in due course. There are over 100 animals on-site, about half of these are traditional farm livestock animals such as pigs and cows and the other half are smaller animals including gerbils and rabbits. It is Liquidator’s intention to re-home both the livestock and pets and given the level of interest received to date, the Liquidator is confident that this is achievable.
