Internal training programme
The position will initially be offered on a five-year fixed-term training contract.
Our trainees are given the opportunity early on to work on a variety of clients, ranging from owner managed businesses to major family-owned companies and not for profit organisations. There are also opportunities to work in different business areas within our full-service client offering.
This exceptional learning environment provides a platform to help you develop your business advisory skills through our internal training programme and become a qualified professional, which will give you access to many career opportunities. You will cover a variety of tasks, enabling you to grow personally as well as professionally.
Each day is different and brings new challenges, whether it be going out as part of the team on your first audit, leading assignments, coaching and developing colleagues, attending client meetings or preparing reports for presentation to clients.
Skills and personal attributes required:
You will work well under pressure and be strong at communicating with people from a variety of backgrounds
In addition, you will share our values, be approachable and able to work collaboratively, and demonstrate a desire to contribute to the ongoing success of the firm.
Study and financial support for ICAS qualification will be provided. You will also have access to additional training through the HL Training Academy.
Mentor support
Our mentor support will help you throughout your training contract and ensure that you receive the training you need. Your mentor will monitor your progress and identify any additional training needs you may have, and will also co-ordinate any additional exam support that you may require.
Variety
Our trainees are given the opportunity to work on a variety of clients, ranging from the smallest of sole traders and charities to major family-owned companies and not for profit organisations. There are also opportunities to work in different business areas within our full-service client offering.
Each day is different and brings new challenges, whether it be: learning how to do your first accounts preparation exercise or corporation tax computation; preparing projections for a client’s business plan; or meeting a client to discuss their business and give tax planning advice.
Career opportunities
At the end of the training contract, some of our newly qualified CAs will prefer to progress within their current department, others may move into a different discipline. Whatever the decision, new challenges will lie ahead and we will offer education and support all the way.
We also appreciate that sometimes your ambitions and goals may lead you to opportunities further afield. We have former employees working around the world, including those who have moved to Bermuda!

Training & Development
Your education and training commences on your first day with Henderson Loggie and continues throughout your career with us. Ongoing development is essential to ensure that you are able to meet the demands of the ever-changing environment, whether the changes be legislative or as a result of your progression within Henderson Loggie.
Our Training Academy provides supplementary technical, practical and business advisory skills to help you through your training contract and furnish you with the fundamental skills you will need to be successful in your future career.
Throughout your training contract, your education will be provided by external and internal sources. Internal training is provided via in-house updates and on-the-job coaching. The knowledge gained through these training media coupled with the skills developed through your day-to-day work will enable you to progress successfully towards your end goal of being a qualified professional.
