Tax team overview
Our Tax team works with a wide range of clients, from growing owner‑managed businesses and families, through to larger corporates, charities and groups with international aspects.
We don’t just prepare tax returns — we help clients understand their tax position, manage risk, and make informed decisions as their circumstances change. The work is varied, practical and often advisory‑led, even at an early stage.
Our main specialist areas include:
Corporate Tax
The corporate team supports UK companies and groups with their corporation tax compliance, while also advising on transactions, group structures and international matters. This can include advising on business expansions, acquisitions and disposals, creative sector tax reliefs, employment‑related tax issues and companies with overseas operations or remote employees.
Owner‑Managed Businesses (OMB)
A large part of our work involves advising owner‑managed and family‑run businesses. This combines corporate tax, personal tax and commercial thinking — for example helping business owners plan for growth, succession, extraction of profits, or a future sale of their business.
Private Client Tax
Our private client specialists work with individuals, families, partnerships and trusts. This includes personal tax compliance, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and estate planning. Much of this work is advisory in nature and focuses on protecting family wealth and planning for the future.
VAT and Indirect Taxes
The team also advises on VAT and other indirect taxes across a broad range of sectors. This includes VAT compliance, technical advisory work, and helping clients manage VAT risks as their business activities change.
Learning, development and thought leadership
Tax is constantly evolving, so learning is a core part of the role. The team regularly shares updates internally, produces client newsletters and publishes thought leadership on technical and practical tax issues. Interns are encouraged to get involved, ask questions, and build experience across different areas of tax before specialising.
ATT: The ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians) qualification is a professional qualification for taxation professionals. It provides a strong understanding of the basic UK tax system and demonstrates the ability to provide services to the self-employed, and industry, commerce and public sector businesses. To achieve the ATT Qualification, students have to complete Personal Tax, Business Tax and one optional paper plus cover ethics, law and accounting. After qualifying, you can progress onto CTA and become a chartered tax advisor, which is the tax equivalent of a chartered accountant.
