About the role
Help us transform how a leading Scottish professional services firm works by combining technology, automation, AI and better business processes.
We are looking for a curious and practical Business Systems & Automation Analyst to help us improve how we use technology, systems, information and data.
Working directly with the CTO, you will act as a bridge between colleagues across the business, our managed IT service provider and other technology suppliers. You will help us understand operational challenges, improve processes, coordinate technology projects and turn good ideas into practical solutions.
This is a broad and developing role. It would suit someone with experience in business analysis, business systems, applications, project delivery, data improvement, digital transformation or a related area who wants the opportunity to broaden their skills.
You do not need to be an expert in every technology we use. We are more interested in your ability to understand problems, work well with people, organise delivery and learn new tools.
What you will do
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working with colleagues to understand business processes, challenges and technology requirements.
- Gathering and documenting requirements and translating them into practical improvements.
- Coordinating smaller technology projects and workstreams involving internal teams and external suppliers.
- Identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise or automate manual processes.
- Helping improve connections and information flows between business systems.
- Supporting the identification and delivery of responsible, practical AI use cases.
- Investigating data-quality issues and helping departments improve the accuracy, ownership and consistency of their information.
- Supporting the effective use and adoption of business applications.
- Coordinating user-support issues with our managed IT service provider and helping address recurring problems through better processes, guidance or training.
- Coordinating security-awareness activities, including phishing simulations and staff communications.
- Maintaining clear documentation covering systems, processes, projects, decisions and responsibilities.
- Supporting business readiness, communication, testing and adoption during technology changes.
Initial projects may include helping departments prepare information for a planned file migration, improving data quality, developing a pipeline of automation and integration opportunities, and strengthening the coordination of user support and security-awareness activities.
These projects are part of a wider and evolving role rather than its sole focus.
What we are looking for
You will ideally have experience in a business systems, business analysis, applications, technology improvement, project delivery or similar role.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience working in at least one of the following areas: business systems, business analysis, applications or technology-focused role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues and identify practical solutions.
- Experience gathering, documenting and translating business requirements into IT system / process improvements.
- Demonstrable technical aptitude and ability to understand business systems, data flows, integrations and automation opportunities.
- Experience working with data, spreadsheets and information sets, including identifying data quality issues.
Ability to coordinate projects, actions, stakeholders and suppliers to deliver agreed outcomes. - Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
- Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, suppliers and external partners.
- Curiosity, adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies, processes and business domains.
Experience in some of the following would be helpful, but we do not expect you to have experience in all of them:
- Process Experience supporting change management, user adoption, training or UAT activities.
- Process mapping, Lean or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Power Automate, Power Apps or similar workflow automation tools.
- Power BI, Power Query, SQL, R or other reporting and data analysis tools.
- Experience with APIs, webhooks, systems integration, JSON or data exchange technologies.
- Experience of SaaS platforms and application administration.
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot, AI tools, or automation initiatives.
- Experience of data governance, information management or data cleansing initiatives.
- Experience working with managed service providers, technology vendors or software implementation partners.
A degree is not essential. Relevant experience, an apprenticeship, HND, professional qualifications or evidence of practical learning will all be considered.
What matters to us
We are looking for someone who:
- Is curious and asks thoughtful questions.
- Focuses on useful business outcomes rather than technology for its own sake.
- Is comfortable taking ownership and following work through to completion.
- Builds positive relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
- Is patient and supportive when helping people adopt new ways of working.
- Wants to develop their career as the organisation’s technology capability grows.
What the role offers
This is an opportunity to work closely with the CTO and gain experience across business systems, project delivery, automation, data, AI, integrations, security awareness and digital improvement.
You will have the chance to take ownership of meaningful projects, see the direct impact of your work and help shape how the role develops over time.
We will support your professional development through practical experience, coaching and relevant training or certifications.
Our approach to inclusion
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and career paths.
Technology careers do not all begin with a computer science degree or a traditional IT role. Transferable experience from operations, business analysis, application support, data, process improvement or other areas may be highly relevant.
If the role interests you but you do not meet every listed requirement, we would still encourage you to apply. We are interested in your potential, your approach to problem-solving and what you could bring to our organisation. This role does adopt our hybrid working policy.
We are committed to providing a fair and inclusive recruitment process. Please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process.
Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 28th September 2026.
